Networking certifications, on average, increase base pay by about 5% annually, according to David Foote, chief analyst at Foote Partners, which just released research for the first six months of the year, based on data on more than 82,000 tech workers at more than 3,800 employers.

The CCNP falls right in line with that, he says. But some of the CCNP specializations do even better. For example, CCNP Security is one of the most valued of the same specializations. It carries a median 10% increase over base pay, as of the second quarter of this year.

Companies are increasingly looking for employees with more than just the basic networking skills, Foote says. “The people that they’re hiring are cybersecurity people,” he says. “They don’t want to entrust their cybersecurity to a third party. They want to own those people. That’s the major thing happening here.”

Meanwhile,  Enterprise adds 6% to base pay, and has gained 20% in value since the start of the year, he says.

How CCNP certification help us ?

Cisco Certified Network Professional is a professional-level certification for network engineers. It demonstrates a candidate’s knowledge and skills in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting Cisco-based networks. Having a certification can help advance one’s career in networking by demonstrating to employers a level of expertise and experience in Cisco technologies. Additionally, it can also help to increase earning potential and job opportunities.

While obtaining a Cisco Certified Network Professional certification can bring many benefits, there are also some potential disadvantages to consider:

  • Time-consuming: Preparing for the CCNP exams and meeting the recertification requirements can take a significant amount of time and effort.
  • Constant updates: Cisco updates its certification program and exams regularly, which means that individuals who have obtained their CCNP certification may need to retake exams or pursue additional training to maintain their certification.
  • Limited Focus: certification focuses on Cisco technologies and solutions, which may limit your employability in a network that doesn’t use Cisco products.
  • Single vendor focus: CCNP is a single vendor certification, which means that it only validates your knowledge of Cisco’s products.
  • No hands-on experience: CCNP doesn’t require any hands-on experience, which means that the certificate holder might not have enough practical experience.

The salary of a Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) can vary depending on several factors such as location, experience, and company size. Generally, CCNP certified individuals tend to earn higher salaries than non-certified individuals, due to their specialized knowledge and skills.

In the United States, the average annual salary for a CCNP certified individual is around $90,000 – $120,000, according to data from Payscale.com. However, this can vary depending on the location, with some cities and states having higher median salaries for CCNP certified individuals than others.

It’s important to keep in mind that salary is not the only consideration when pursuing a CCNP certification, as it also validates your skills, opens up job opportunities and can help you advance your career in networking.
